Faith United Milton Cares

What can I do with THESE HANDS of mine?

One theme that emerged during the Faith women's retreat in October was

"What can I do with these hands?" This has sparked a challenge for us as a congregation moving into our 8th year.  At our anniversary service on Oct. 21, we considered the question "What is my personal ministry?" and challenged everyone to consciously focus on his or her intended personal ministry for the month of November, prior to the season of Advent.

To facilitate that, for the next four weeks you will receive a brief email, asking you to reflect upon your personal ministry. At each service in November, there will be a simple liturgy focusing on that theme as well.

May each of us be blessed, and be a blessing to others, as we follow this simple discipline over the next few weeks.

Your PERSONAL MINISTRY CHALLENGE for the week beginning November 4

Some hands can welcome sisters, brothers. Some hands can open doors for others.

So tell me what shall I do with these hands of mine?

(Verse written for "These Hands" at the Faith Women's Retreat 2018")

Consider the Bible passage 1 Corinthians 12:5-6

"There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.  There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work."   NIV

THESE HANDS – lyrics

"These Hands" by Dave Gunning

Some hands have held the world together.

Some hands have fought in wars forever.

Tell me what shall I do with these hands of mine?

Some hands have blessed a million people.

Some hands helped free the world from evil.

So tell me what shall I do with these hands of mine?

What shall I do with these hands of mine?

What shall I do with these hands of mine?

The world could use a hero of the human kind,

So tell me what shall I do with these hands of mine?

Some hands can stop a life from dying.

Some hands comfort a baby crying.

So tell me what shall I do with these hands of mine?

What shall I do with these hands of mine?

What shall I do with these hands of mine?

The world could use a hero of the human kind,

So tell me what shall I do with these hands of mine?

I want to sing it from my heart, I want to hear it in the wind

’Til it blows around the world and comes back again

And all that we can ask is for our hands to be free

To use them when we want for whatever the need

Some hands give voice to a nation.

Some hands wrote “The Times They Are A-Changing”.

So tell me what shall I do with these hands of mine?

What shall I do with these hands of mine?

What shall I do with these hands of mine?

The world could use a hero of the human kind,

So tell me what shall I do with these hands of mine?

What shall I do with these hands of mine?

What shall I do with these hands of mine?

The world could use a hero of the human kind,

So tell me what shall I do with these hands of mine?

So tell me what shall I do with these hands of mine?
