Faith United Milton Cares

Motto:  Let us love not only in word and speech, but also in deed and truth.

Women of Faith Gathering, Monday, May 6 from 7:15-9:00 pm (note slightly later times)

At the Masonic Hall, 6321 Regional Road 25, Milton

For our May Women of Faith gathering, we will be learning about Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting, with guests from the Women's Auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at here in Milton. Their speaker will explain the significance and the rituals of Ramadan which begins on May 5 this year. They will also bring a selection of head scarves to demonstrate how these are worn, and several of their members will also bring henna to paint hands for anyone who would like to try that. Because our guests will be fasting until sundown (about 8:30pm on May 6), we will delay refreshments until that time and share the breaking of the fast with them.

Please feel free to invite any of your personal friends or neighbours who might be interested in learning more about Ramadan along with us, but we will keep this gathering as a women-only event. We will send another email after Easter to ask for RSVPs so we know how many people to prepare for, and you can let us know if you will be bringing any guests at that point.

"Keep us, O God, from pettiness; let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.  Let us be done with fault-finding and leave off self-seeking.

May we put away all pretense and meet each other face to face, without self-pity and without prejudice.  May we never be hasty in judgment and always generous.

Let us take time for all things; make us to grow calm, serene, gentle.  Teach us to put into action our better impulses, straightforward and unafraid.  Grant that we may realize it is the little things that create differences, that in the big things of life we are at one.

And may we strive to touch and to know the great, common human heart of us all, and O Lord God, let us forget not to be kind.  Amen."
